2004 - The University of Rhode Island
is the #1 ranked team in the country for the first
time in its history. The Rams were able to secure
a win and a tie over previous #1 Penn State University
at home, making them the third different team to
hold the top spot over the last three rankings.
Rhode Island received 29 of a possible 35 first-place
votes, while Penn State and Ohio received
the other first-place votes. Lindenwood and the
Illini hold steady while a mojority of the other
teams shuffle around. The biggest loser this round
was West Chester who slid
three
spots down
to
17th.
The next ranking will be released on Friday, December
20.
