Devils to try and heat up the ice.
Fredonia State Hockey Club to be first matchup

September 29, 2004 - The Illini look forward to beginning regular season on a high note this coming weekend as the Fredonia State Hockey Club come to town. With a squad of young Illini players, eleven Freshmen on the roster, the returning veterans hope to initiate the new guys quickly against the new Fredonia State club. The Blue Devils come into Champaign with a 0-1-0 record and trying to shake off their first loss of the season against the University of Buffalo. The Illini can look forward to the senior scorers like Rogers, Duncan, and Coleman putting some pressure on in the oppenents zone, but the veteran defensive players are going to have to step up to fill in some of the holes left after last years senior class departed. Returning in net this year for the Illini will be last years team and CSCHL Rookie of the Year, Mike DeGeorge. Mike had a record of 14-3-2 last season and will no doubt be a major part of the Illini's goaltending corps this year.
The Games will both start at 7:00pm on Friday, October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Advance ticket sales end at 5 p.m. on game days. General admission is $5 for UI students and $6 for the public. Reserved seating is $7 for UI students and $8 for the public. We hope to see you there.
