Illini still ranked #4 in latest ACHA poll
ACHA Rankings #8 released

February 06, 2004 - Four-time defending ACHA Division 1 National Champion Penn State remains at the top of the polls, garnering 21 out of a possible 28 first-place votes. The Nittany Lions won their own tournament, the Nittany Lion Invitational, and swept Michigan-Dearborn on the road. The top seven spots remained unchanged from the last ranking, as Ohio, Rhode Island, Illinois, Lindenwood, Minot State, and Michigan-Dearborn held those spots respectively. Ohio received 6 first-place votes while Lindenwood received the other first-place vote. Weber State moved up a spot to #8, while Towson jumped up two spots to occupy the #9 position. Nationals host Iowa State held onto the #10 position, while West Chester fell out of the top 10, dropping three spots and coming in at #11. Arizona State stood pat in the #12 spot while rival Arizona jumped up three spots to hold the #13 position. The arch-rivals split a pair of games, including a Saturday afternoon matchup at the Glendale Arena, the new home of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes. Delaware and Washington & Jefferson held ground at #14 and #15, while Drexel slid out of a tournament spot, dropping three spots to #16. Mercyhurst rolls back into the polls at #17, winning 14 of its last 15 games, including the Navy Crabpot Tournament last weekend. The last time the Lakers were in the polls was back in October. Saint Louis, Kent State, and Navy round out the top 20.

The next ranking will be released on Friday, February 20 and will reveal the twelve invitees to this years National Tournament.
