Panthers to prowl the ice of the Big Pond.
UW-Milwaukee heads south

January 29, 2004 - To fill in the gap left in the Illini schedule when the University of Wisconsin Whitewater hockey club folded, another University of Wisconsin team stepped up and are heading to the U of I Ice Arena this coming weekend. The UW-Milwaukee Panthers hockey club graciously accepted the invitation to play at the Big Pond, and will come in looking to keep their heads above the .500 mark. The Panthers are currently unranked in the ACHA Division II polls, and will be skating in with a 11-10-2 record for the season. The UWM skaters have had a rough return to the ice since semester break with two losses and one tie in the last four games, their one win coming against Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville this last Sunday. Much like their record, the teams Goals For and Goals Against averages are pretty equal at 4.2 and 4.7 respectively. Since the Illini and Panthers have never faced off against each other previously, it could take a while for the teams to adjust to each others style of play. The games will both start at 7:00 pm as usual, so get there early for good seats to cheer on the Illini.
