On the road again.
Illini take on the Bobcats
January 16, 2004 - The Illini are on the road once again this weekend and headed for another tough matchup as they take on the 15-5-1 Bobcats of Ohio University. With very little time off of the bus back from Minot, the Illini are back on it heading East to Athens, Ohio. The Illini will have their hands full as the take on the hot Ohio team, who just swept the #1 Penn State team, and deal with the confines of the Bird Arena. With eight CSCHL points on the line for the weekend, the Illini would very much like to win both games against the Bobcats to share the number one spot with them in the league standings. To take these points away from the Bobcats, the Illini defense is going to have to step up and stop the Ohio scoring leaders like Sean Gallagher and Matt Shenk, who Shenk alone scored three of the Bobcats goals last weekend against the Icers. The Illini forwards are also going to have to find away to get the puck past Ohio's solid goaltender, Brian Gallagher. Gallagher, who is ranked just above the Illini's netminders Danlow and DeGeorge, has been frustrating players all season with his 92% save percentage and 1.6 goals against average. Solid goaltending on each end of the ice could be the theme of the weekend and result in some low scoring games. The Illini will return to the U of I ice arena on January 23rd as they take on the Iowa State Cyclones.
