BigTen tourney could see #1 vs. #2
Big Ten teams Illinois, Ohio State, Indiana & Penn State to face off.

November 23, 2003 - After a weekend off, the Illini get ready for what might be the biggest game of their season so far. As the after effects of the Thanksgiving dinners are wearing off, the Illini will be heading to Fishers, Indiana to participate in the Big Ten hockey tournament with other clubs from Indiana, Ohio State, and Penn State Universities. The first round games begin on Friday, November 28, at 5:00 pm as the Illini take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State, and immediately following at 8:00 pm Indiana University takes on the Penn State Icers. The consolation and championship games will take place on Saturday, November 29, with the losers from round one facing each other at 4:30 pm and the winners of the first round playing for all the marbles at 7:30 pm. To get to the championship game, the Illini will first have to get past the Tri-State Collegiate Hockey Leagues number one team, Ohio State. The Buckeyes, with a 6-3-1 record, are currently in the ninth spot of the ACHA's Division 2 rankings, and are coming off an upset sweep of the Perdue hockey club. The second game of the weekend puts the ACHA's Division 1 leader, Penn State, against the ACHA Division 2's fourth place team, Indiana University. Both of these teams are coming off of wins from this past weekend as well. Of course the matchup of the weekend might be if the #2 Illini face off against #1 Penn State in one of the Saturday games. The Illini would gladly like to repeat the results of last years meeting of these teams as the Illini swept the Icers in Happy Valley, and Penn State would gladly like to show why they are ranked #1. We hope to see as many fans as possible make the short trip over to Indianapolis to help cheer on the Illini.
