UMD Wolves migrate to the Big Pond
Wolves took down Eagles.

November 6, 2003 - The Illini might have their hands full this weekend as the face off against the CSCHL's only undefeated team, the Wolves of the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Although UMD has only played two league games, they do skate in with a respectable 8-2-2 record on the season, and have not lost a game since October 7th. Unlike many teams that have a couple of key scoring players, the Wolves have several players that are able to bury the puck. A few of UMD's threats that the Illini will have to keep an eye on are Junior forwards Jason Turri and Chris Musser and Senior forwards Brett Logan and Brent Estevez who have been sharing the majority of the Dearborn points this season. The Wolf pack offensively have been averaging 4.75 goals per game and defensively allowing 3.1, compared to the Illini averages which are 5.3 goals for and only 2.4 goals against per game. Goaltending may be a key factor in this game and Eric Kivi has been stopping most of the pucks for the Wolves and doing a fairly good job of it. The Illini forwards are going to have to find a way past him if they want to win these games.
Since the two games against UMD this weekend are Central States Collegiate Hockey League games, they are each worth four points and that is something that each team would dearly like to walk away with. Two wins for either team this weekend would put them in second place in the CSCHL standings behind the first place Iowa State Cyclones who will taking on Kent State. Over the next two weekends the Illini will have 16 CSCHL points up for grabs which could make a big difference heading towards the CSCHL playoffs.
