Illini hope to short circuit the Golden Flashes
Kent State looking for points
October 29, 2003 - The Illini are getting set to take on another Central States Collegiate Hockey League team that has yet to earn any league points. This weekend Illini Hockey heads to Northern Ohio to take on the 3-2 Golden Flashes of Kent State. The Flashes are coming off of a weekend sweep of West Virginia, but much like Eastern Michigan when they came to town, are still looking for their first points against another CSCHL team. The Flashes only losses this season came against the Bobcats of Ohio University who are currently sitting in first place in league points. The Illini are coming off of their first lost of the season and would like to get back on track with two road wins at Kent State. The Illini currently find themselves tied with Michigan-Dearborn and St. Louis with 8 points, and the 8 points that this weekend holds would be valuable as the season goes on. For the Illini to stop the Flashes, the defense will need to slow down the teams points leader Brett Kendig, who has all three of the teams game winning goals this season, as well as forwards Rob Ellis and Matt Major who each have 2 goals and one assist. On the other end of the ice the Flashes have been allowing just over 3 points per game, and hopefully the hot handed Illini forwards can take advantage of that and put the Kent State skaters behind quickly. Both games take place at 7:15pm Kent State campus ice arena.
