Spartans
coming to battle the Illini
 |
Are
the Spartans ready for war? |
October
8, 2003 - The Illini have had a weekend
off after the sweep of Michigan and are ready to
get back to some real hockey action. That action
will come soon enough as the Michigan State hockey
club rolls into Champaign for a pair of weekend games
this Friday and Saturday nights. The Spartans are
coming off of a split decision match up with another
ACHA Division 1 team, Western Michigan, in which
State defeated Western on Friday, but lost by a goal
on Sunday. The 1-2 Spartans show up on the ice with
a fairly young team, half of its members being freshman,
but has a few veteran players that hold the team
together. Michigan State goaltender Nick Griffin
has been known for some fairly effective net minding
and may
give the Illini some resistance when it comes to
scoring. The Illini of course would love to sweep
another Big-10 opponent before starting their CSCHL
season when they head into Ames. |
