06, 2003 - The Illini hockey club would
like to thank everyone that turned out for the "Skate
with the Illini" outing this past weekend, making
the event a success. For two hours on Saturday night,
the team
came together
to
meet
the fans, sign some autographs, and support a good
cause, The Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club of Champaign/Urbana
whose programs and activities are designed to improve
the quality
of life for each child in order to provide a strong
foundation for the future of the community, the nation
and the world. For a small admission fee attendees
were given free skate rental and "Skate
with the Illini" tee shirts that they could put on
and have signed by any or all of the Illini players
that skated around the ice arena with their Sharpee's.
The fans, who ranged from young to old, and various
degrees of skating ability, were able to easily pick
out the newest additions to the
Illini
roster as they all sported their stylish new haircuts,
which is supposed to be more aerodynamic and help
them skate faster. Again the coaches and players
would like to thank you for supporting both the team
and the community. |
