Illini Captains chosen
Illini's newest leaders, Duncan, Rogers, Aberman
September 5th, 2003 - The latest leaders for the Illini Hockey club have just been announced. Representing the team as Captain for the 2003-2004 season is Jim Rogers. Jim returns to the Illini this year as a senior and as one of the leading scorers from last season with 29 goals and 21 assists. Jim's presence on the ice as a captain will help pull the team together when facing some of their greatest rivals and keep a cool head when things get heated up. Wearing the "A"'s on their jerseys for the Illini this season will be senior Ari Aberman and junior Brett Duncan. Ari returns for his third season as one of the Illini defensemen and as the new club president. Ari's defensive leadership will help the Illini keep opponents out of the zone and limiting the number of shots on goal again this season. Brett Duncan also returns for his third season with the Illini. Brett comes in as the Illini's points leader and top goal scorer for last season, as well as the CSCHL's points champion for the 2002-03 season. Brett's playing abilities and hockey smarts will help lead the team towards another outstanding season. We'd like to welcome the new captains and wish them well as they guide the club thoughout the season.
