April
13th, 2003 - The members of
Illini hockey club and their families gathered together at Biaggi's
in Champaign for their annual awards banquet. The capacity crowd
listened to coach Chad Cassel as he recapped the Illini's stellar
season, touting the clubs best record ever at 37-2, the first time
as CSCHL champions, and the first time ranked number one in the
ACHA. Coach Cassel also pointed out the numerous players that were
recognized by the leagues for their outstand play. The team awards,
as voted by the players, were also handed out last night:

thanks were also given out to the assistant coaches, Drew
Livingston, Rick Kohler, and Steve Cichocki, Faculty Advisor
Dr. Henry Wilkinson, General Manager Erik Turngren, Trainer Joe
Bellamy, Team Physician Dr. Chad Carlson, and Announcer/Statistician
Larry Kimball.
The team reigns
were also handed over from Brian Tilden to the new Club president
Ari Aberman. Helping out Ari this coming season will be Vice
presidents Brian
Coleman and Brett Duncan, Treasurer Justin Stock, and working hard
with some fund raising ideas Tim Danlow .
