Illinois to take on Kent State
Kent State Golden Flashes
January 1st, 2003 - To start off the new year, Illinois will be taking on the Kent State University Golden Flashes at the U of I ice arena on Friday January 10th and Saturday January 11th, 2003. Kent State will be skating in trying to end a 3 game losing skid and currently ranked 6th in the CSCHL and with an overall record of 4 wins, 14 loses, and 2 ties. The Illini have beaten the Flashes in single game meetings for the last two season, but both in very close games, last years meeting being a 6-5 overtime win for the Illini. The Illini will not underestimate the abilities of Kent State for these first two games of 2003, especially with four of their players ranked in the top 15 of the CSCHL points leaders standing. KSU's Curtis Carr comes in with 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists), tying him with Brian Tilden and Pat Olson of the Illini, and who is a serious threat on the penalty killing squad having notched two short handed goals in CSCHL match ups, and three over all games. In front of the net the Golden Flashes Justin Tabert can prove a challenge to the Illini scoring attacks as well, this season keeping out 90.4% of the 376 shots that have come his way.

Both games should be a good welcoming back challenge for the Illini and provide plenty of excitement for the fans. Both games start at 7:00 pm and tickets are still available, so stop by the ice arena or give them a call to get your ticket now.
