Illini skate through Dearborn
Senior Brian Tilden has hat trick game
October 21st, 2002 - The University of Michigan-Dearborn team was looking to turn around their 0-4 start with a win against the visiting Illini, but that just didn't happen.

On Friday night the Illini took the ice short a few of their key players against the home team. Captain Brian Tilden was finally able to slip one past the Michigan's Pagel late in the first period to put the Illini up by one and provide the periods only score. Shortly after the start of the second, the Illini's Ari Aberman knocked home a goal with the help of Lynch and Carlson. In the third, UMD and the Illini traded goal scoring sessions, and each tem put in two more goals, bringing the game to the final Illini 4, UMD 2.

Saturday night turned out to be Illini shootout night, and earned Brian Tilden of the Illini a hat trick. The scoring started out just 14 seconds into the first with the Illini's Duncan and Olson helping Tilden find the net. Mike Roesch, Steve Krates, Brett Duncan, and Brian Tilden, again found the net ending the first period Illini 5, UMD 0. Brian Coleman started off the scoring just two minutes into the second period, and with goals from Jim Rogers and again Brian Tilden, to leave the Michigan team wondering how to dig out of the 8-0 game. Five minutes into the third, Brett Duncan scored his second goal of the game with the assist going to Tilden. Michigan was finally able to get on the board in the middle of the third with Musser slipping one past Tim Danlow. To finish off the third, Andy Lubesnick teamed up with Jeff Condis to put in a power play goal and wrap up the scoring on the 10-1 Illini victory..
