Illini win on home opening weekend
The Illini face off against Robert Morris
September 28, 2002 - Illinois had a pretty successful opener against the Robert Morris College Eagles, winning 6-1 and 9-2.

RMC was stronger than last year and held Illinois close the first half of both games.

Illinois goalie Tim Danlow played well. Illinois out shot RMC 60-17 and 55-18. The defense was solid with Lynch, Aberman & Chrustowski playing key rolls.

The offense was relentless with all four lines contributing. Pat Olson's line was the hottest this week end while Joel Superfine's line played equally well, contributed but was slightly snake bit. Both lines consistently dominated play.
The other two lines were also outstanding.
By the middle of the second period Saturday RMC was a beaten and worn down team.

I believe that Illinois has picked back up where they left off last year.

Coach Cassel seems to realize he caught lightning in a bottle last year and will allow this team to continue to mature.
